Everyone at Michaelstowe is celebrating Luke, grandson of resident Carol, after he completed the Plymouth Half Marathon in an impressive 2 hours and 17 minutes.
Despite running with a dodgy knee, Luke dug deep and crossed the finish line with real determination. Photographs show him out on the course during the marathon, as well as proudly posing afterwards with Carol and his medal. One particularly lovely image shows Carol holding her homemade “Go Luke” sign, while another captures the pair together after the race, with Luke showing the back of his T-shirt printed with “Michaelstowe The GOAT of Care”.
Carol was there to support him every step of the way, cheering from the sidelines and proudly waving her Michaelstowe residents’ banner. Her encouragement clearly meant a great deal, and it was a lovely moment of family pride shared with the wider home community too.
As if completing the half marathon was not achievement enough, Luke has also kindly dedicated his sponsorship to Michaelstowe. The funds raised will help the home buy raised flower beds and garden items, something especially close to Carol’s heart.
This thoughtful gesture will support future enjoyment in the garden and create lasting benefits for residents. Everyone at Michaelstowe is incredibly proud of Luke’s effort, generosity and spirit, and very grateful for the difference his run will make.
