About Michaelstowe Residential Home
There is a friendly and passionate team on hand 24 hours a day providing assistance with every everyday task required. Each individual has their own tailored care plan allowing for choice and flexibility.
Michaelstowe provides residential care and care for those living with dementia. The home offers both permanent placements and shorter term respite placements flexible to each individual and situation.
The home provides a warm, friendly and relaxed environment with spacious indoor communal areas, a garden, decking area and a conservatory. Bedrooms come fully furnished to a high standard inclusive of an en-suite with the option of bringing in personal furniture items and belongings.
Activities and events are a key part of the day at Michaelstowe ranging from larger group activities to smaller quieter arrangements, there is always something for everyone. The chef understands that mealtimes are important which is why there is a varied and nutritious menu to offer.

I’m Amy, and I’ve literally grown up with South West Care Homes – from night shifts to running the show.
My story with South West Care Homes began in 2007 when I started as a Night Care Assistant. With their incredible support, I’ve worked my way through the company and now have the honour of being Registered Manager at Michaelstowe, located on the beautiful outskirts of Plymouth in Plympton.
What I love about our approach is that our residents are truly at the forefront of everything we do. We maintain a dignified, person-centred approach, focusing on each person’s abilities and supporting them to shine every single day.
Over the years, we’ve transformed Michaelstowe into something really special – freshly home-cooked meals, personalised bedrooms that reflect each resident’s personality, and an environment that’s both warm and homely while keeping safety paramount.
We believe in complete transparency and have built strong relationships with all the professionals who support our home. Open and honest communication isn’t just our policy – it’s who we are.
When I’m not at Michaelstowe, I’m in full family mode with my two children and husband, doing all those wonderful, chaotic family activities. I’m also a bit of a football fanatic – supporting both Plymouth Argyle and Aston Villa, and I never miss a tournament, whether it’s men’s or women’s football!
